What a special day Petra 13 Christian Elementary School is having today. After having three days of Holiday, the students were all ready and exited to come back to school. Today, they celebrated Chinese New Year and held a Marvelous Mouth Hygiene Competition for four graders. All students and teachers wore their best Chinese clothes called “Qipao/Cheongsam”. They started the day with morning devotion and praise the Lord in Mandarin. They continued with class photo sessions. The students made Chinese New Year greeting cards with wishes for loved ones. The bigger students drew the cards from scratch, while the younger students coloured the greeting cards.

The Marvelous Mouth Hygiene Competition was held in three rounds. The first round was mouths health checking. The checking was done by the school dentist during the first semester. They selected the best 21 students with the cleanest and healthiest teeth and mouths. Those students continued to the second round which was knowledge test. They answered some questions about health and hygiene and 14 students with the highest score could continue to the third round which was the final round. In this round they performed a poster presentation about dental health. All the finalists prepared and worked to do this presentation. The final round was graded by school dentist, art teacher and vice principal. All the finalists proudly presented their posters with confidence and enthusiasm.

The day ran smoothly with joy and euphoria. The students were happy they could meet their friends again after the long holiday. Now they are all ready to continue the next lesson, projects, and activities with teachers and friends. Happy Chinese New Year!
