Touch and Sort It!

Published On: March 12, 2026

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, Kindergarten A students participated in a fun and meaningful activity focused on introducing the concept of organic and inorganic waste. This activity was designed to help children understand waste classification while also developing important skills in an engaging and enjoyable way.

The activity began with sensory exploration, where the children were invited to pick picture cards hidden in a cornstarch mixture. This unique texture sparked their curiosity and encouraged them to practice fine motor skills as they carefully searched for and retrieved the cards.

After finding the cards, each child practiced early literacy skills by reading simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words written on them. This stage helped strengthen their reading ability in a fun learning environment. Next, the children carefully observed the pictures and identified whether the items were organic or inorganic waste. After determining the type, they placed the cards into the appropriate trash bins. This process helped build awareness of environmental responsibility and the importance of proper waste management.

Through this activity, the children not only learned how to sort waste but also developed their literacy, fine motor, and sensory skills. Most importantly, they showed great enthusiasm and joy throughout the activity, making the learning process both enjoyable and meaningful.
